Is everyone who murders another mentally ill? Do we excuse anyone who may have a sub-average IQ implying they do not know right from wrong? I submit that there are circumstamces where a persom may murder under the heat of passion, and would never consider murder under different circumstances. As far as the Innocence project freeing some from death row based on DNA evidence, that is a good thing. However, the cold-blooded psychopath will never be rehabilitated nor redeemed.
The death penalty will never be a deterrant if it is rarely used. Murdering another in cold blood and knowing one will be sentenced to life is an utter insult to all mankind.
That keeps alive the hope for escape, or murder of a prison guard or another inmate without penalty. When lawyers are permitted to submit appeal after appeal to prolong a killers life, most will die of old age. I would give them 5 years to bring up any and all appeals, then carry out the sentence.

unfortunately, the death penalty targets the mentally ill, 4 whom it is hardly a detterent _ Just as 2 wrongs do not make a right, society should not be in the business of committing atrocities. Perhaps the CEO bankers boosting their salaries by leveraging thousands of fraudulent loans deserve the death penalty. Or as Shakespear quipped, 2 fix society – kill all the lawyers.

What are you going to do about over 200 DNA that cleared people on death row. We cannot get it right and if it were one of your love ones that was innocent no one would volte for the death penalty. It is legalized murder Other country’s condeme us for it Why are we playing god? HE gives life and He should be the one that takes it away not a society that is so sure they are always right. It is cheaper to keep them in prison than give them the death penalty. If you do believe it please do your research and then search your heart. If you do not believe in a God then question what gives you the right to do this.

Ed, You are right.

Life is messy. One must choose how to deal with the grey areas that we encounter. God gave us freedom of choice and the worst thing we can do is not to choose what we think is right. The human condition is such that we make mistakes sometimes….at least those of us that dty to DO something.

I can see that you are a master sergent in the USAF. You know about leadership, FXXX-ups and everything that comes in between. Bravo to you.

The Bible is a good guideline for those messy situations that we as humans get into sometimes. Buddism and Islam are as effective when believed in by an educated population.

I believe that a change is needed in the American culture where teachers and education are a first priority. Education and a skill base gives people self worth and removes the incentives for violent crime.

It is quite possible that you grandfather may have participated in unjust executions as during the post-WWI
era we didn’t have the sophisticated methods of collecting irrefutable evidence that we do now. Do you think that pathological murders go to the same place as murdered,
innocent children? That is inane. I profess no religion and
do not believe in heaven or hell. Only oblivion. Are you so naive as to believe that murderers convicted to life in prison are actually going to repent and ever feel any compassion towards their victims? These murderers are
no different than some deadly diseases such as cancer.
Do you think cancer ever feels any remorse? Of course not. The only cure for cancer is to kill the cancerous cells
and hope we got them all. I advocate that we totally destroy sociopaths and psychopaths.just as we would a cancer. Stay happy in your Utopia. When you or one of your loved ones is viciously murdered by one of these

I have two problems with executions. Firstly,my grandfather was a hangmans assistant after WW1 and had to quit after a while. You should try doing it if you are in favour. Secondly, if a man kills a child, why would it make sense to send the man to wherever the child is now-unless you are 100% sure about heaven & hell and your judgement is as good as God’s. Keeping murderers away from their victims for as long as possible might seem to be quite a sensible idea. They don’t have to be happy.

Train the childre properly ,teach them to be respectful to love other human beings,to be king and lend a helping hand to someone to cross the street,to say please and thank you,yes mam,yes thanks ,no thanks ,good morning and good evening,do not shout obsenities ,and for god’s sake do not have sex behind a curtain seperating your bedroom from the children’s,I hope these few tips would help to change some young criminals in the making,

I have seen criminals in the making,there are womwn who only want to have sex and do not care about the consequences,they make children and do not care what the children do to law abiding citizen,they train the children to be wicked to their neighbours ,if the neighbours are better off than them,they sometimes hacked their neighbours to death because their children tell them lies,they are wicked and evil,
