It has been well known, with theological teachings, for thousands of years, that this commandment is a prohibition against illiicit killings such as murder, not licit killings such as self defense, just war or executions of wrongdoers.

The proper translation is thou shalt not murder or more properly thou shalt not commit illicit killings.

Pope Innocent I" "It must be remembered that power was granted by God [to the magistrates], and to avenge crime by the sword was permitted. He who carries out this vengeance is God’s minister (Romans 13:1-4). Why should we condemn a practice that all hold to be permitted by God? We uphold, therefore, what has been observed until now, in order not to alter the discipline and so that we may not appear to act contrary to God’s authority. Innocent 1, Epist. 6, C. 3. 8, ad Exsuperium, Episcopum Tolosanum, 20 February 405, PL 20,495

Nahan, you need to watch your language son.
Just since they have started using DNA it has been determined over 300 innocent inmates have been sent to the death machine. Please look this up - it cost more to the taxpayers to execute a inmate than it does to keep him on death roll. I have seen death roll in 7 different Texas prisons and I would much rather be put to death than live in there.

You apparently are not a guard. I have visited and seen death roll many times as an Investigator for the Attorney General's Office and you are so wrong. The guards enjoy torturing the inmates and threatening their families. They sell drugs and cell phones to the inmates. The only difference between a guard and an inmate is the uniform!
