The question is “Is taking this action likely to harm anyone, and, if so, does the harm outweigh the harms prevented if we take this action?”
The answer, in this situation, is clearly yes. The harms prevented, if the perpertrator is kept incarcerated with sufficent security to prevent them inflicting harm on others, are basically the cost of keeping them incarcerated. The harm inflicted, on the other hand, is someone’s life. That’s a pretty major harm.
We do not have a right, much less a duty, to inflict harm of any sort on other people, except in self-defense or in defense of others.
Someone’s actions, no matter how terrible, do not provide a basis for inflicting similar actions on them. Two wrongs never make a right, they just compound the evil.
To those of you who are christian: Don’t you think that, if they deserve anything, god will provide exactly what they deserve, in hell? Don’t you think it’s just a teensy bit arrogant to take that responsiblity, and commit evil acts with the shaky justification of “But he started it”?
No matter what people have done, no matter who they are, no matter what we would like to do to them, they still deserve our compassion.

When the jurors came out ,and they told the judge that he was guilty of all charges and they recommend the death penalty.Then we should have brought him to the basement and shot him dead.Why waste tax payers money with all the pleas to keep him alive……

Sam, the question is, and this is not an ignorant question, is capital punishment really a “must”? Live in prison on death roll is much worse; death is the quick and easy way out not to mention it cost taxpayers more to kill the offender that it cost to keep him/her in a tiny cell 23/7 with terrible food and treatment from the guards. The guards are as bad if not worse than the inmates. Should they be put to death also since it is not inhumane? What about the men and women on the jury who deliver the death sentence – should they go to the death machine also since it is not inhumane?

Sam, I am wondering if you know that almost 300 inmates have been put to death in the U.S. by accident?
The men and women on the jury and the person that injections the fluids that kill; are they ignorant too or should they be put to death too?
I have the feeling Sam, that anybody who does not agree with your views, you consider them ignorant.

it actually costs more to kill an inmate on death row than it does to keep them in prison for life so your spouting about tax payers is actually a load of bull. Also murder is murder whoever carries it out. also what is your opinion on the many innocent lives that have been lost through the death penalty does it mean that the person who sentenced him/her to death and the person who pulled the lever for the chair or released the fluid into their body to cause there death should also be sentenced to death????

Project innocence in ‘Dallas County has exonerated 265 people falsely convicted, some had been incarcerated for more than 20 years. It is abundantly evident that our criminal justice system is seriously flawed. So long as the convicted person lives that mistake can be rectified. I say no executions until we have corrected the source of these errors and regain full confidence in in the system.
